PTD; Post Travel Depression

Being back in school is depressing...I keep looking at my photos I took in Australia wishing I were still there.

But this always happens after going somewhere amazing. I want to go back, but there are still so many places I haven't been yet.

My goal in life is to travel to at least half of all the countries in the world. Apparently there are 194 countries in the world. 97 countries? No problem! I think I can say that I've already been to at least 30..and I'm only 19. Still got plenty of time.

Well, anyways, I'm thinking hard about where to go for spring break next year...I'm thinkin' Costa Rica, or if I'm really feeling ambitious, Brazil would be amazing to go to.

We'll see where I am in about 6 months!

Melbourne

Soo, I didn't update in Perth because I was 1) too busy and 2) I didn't have internet connection.
But anyway, a brief overview of Perth...it was a very nice city with a TON of Asians. We went around mostly with Auntie Emily and I hung out with their family a lot...I like having other Chinese people that share the same type of culture as my family, becuase there's not a lot of Chinese-Filipino Christians that speak our dialect of Hokkien. Everything is very comfortable and family-like around them...even though I haven't seen auntie Emily's kids since I was a little kid.
But anyway, everyone has been extremely hospitable and so generous. I haven't been hungry since I got to Australia. If someone isn't taking us out to eat, then they're preparing some elaborate meal for us. I feel reallly lucky.
In Perth we basically went to the wildlife preserve and did typical tourist stuff like feeding kangaroos and petting koalas, went boating on the river, and miscellaneous stuff like church and shopping...yah.
I went to the University of Western Australia's Open Day which is like a school's open house and it's quite different. The school had a LOT of different types of courses to offer...and hardly anyone lives on campus.
But yah. I'm in Melbourne for tonight. Today was pretty boring. We're in my Uncle Stephen's house and we just went to the mall and bought sheep placenta creme and I fell asleep in the library.
Yup. Hopefully tomorrow and the day after will be more exciting.

Adelaide-Day 4

So I realize there hasn't been a day 1-3, but that's because I've been too tired/lazy to write.
But anyway, it's been pretty chill so far. The first day we did some window shopping at a strip called Parade, being shocked by the really expensive prices of clothes here. Seriously, it's ridiculoussss. I saw a burn-out t-shirt that you can tell is really good quality, but it wasn't worth the 125$ on the tag.
Church on Sunday was somewhat interesting as well...going back to a church we used to attend when I was like 2 years old..it's funny seeing people react to how I look now compared to before.
After that we went to Hahndorf, which is Adelaide's German town. We visited a lot of quirky and cute craft shops and had delicious scones with cream and strawberry jam and pecan tart.
On the way back home, we got stranded in a gas station which was not fun at all.
Today was pleasant as well..during the morning we had to do some financial stuff which was a bore, but after that we went to Central Market which had this Asian food centre that reminded me of Flushing but more diverse.
I had Laksa for the first time which was just hot enough to pick me up from the cool weather, and I had my brother's left over he fen..
Thennnn we went to Glenelg beach. I don't know if you can really describe a beach as adorable, but this one was pretty adorable. The beach was REALLY clean, and the condos and docks on the side were so pretty and cute. It looked like Miami minus the heat! We had soft-serve ice cream at Mackers (aka McDonalds) here, which I SWEAR is better than the one in NY. It is so much creamier..
Then we had Thai for dinner which was a nice change from the Thai in New York where I *always* get pad thai. I have no idea what we had..some chicken, some squid...I didn't bother asking (as always) but it was quite tasty.
After that we had some pretty good gelatto which was sooo good but made me soo full. I am definitely putting on some fat after this trip.

Man...life is so relaxed here. I'd definitely move here when I'm like 80.
